Insulation Rebate - Halted
Effective from 19 February 10
Under pressure from media and industry leaders the government has announced the immediate halting of the Home Insulation Rebate.
From 1 Jun 10 the Home Insulation Rebate will be replaced with a new scheme called the Renewable Energy Bonus which will again allow government subsidised insulation of homes to the value of $1000.
Effective from 2 November 09:
- Maximum Insulation Rebate reduced from $1600 to $1200 per household
- Insulation Installation must cover down lights and other relevant ceiling appliances
- Insulation Quotes must be prepared from a physical inspection of roof area
- Insulation Rebate funding now capped at $2.4billion
Effective from 1 December 09:
- Householders will be required to obtain two genuine independent quotes from two registered insulation installers
- Ceiling insulation must not be installed before a Risk Assessment has been completed.
The government states these changes were made to improve the safety for installers and householders and to reduce the maximum subsidy under the Program.
