Selecting An - Insulation Installer

To qualify for the Government's insulation rebate the individual or company installing your insulation must;

  • Meet Australian Insulation Installation Standards AS 3999-1992
  • Meet the insulation product standards - AS/NZ. 48591:2002
  • Comply (as a minimum) to the specified R-value of Climate Zones and Council Regulations
  • Be listed on the Government's Installer Provider Register or The work must be carried out by
    an installer that meets the government minimum competency requirements or     supervised by an
    individual that satisfies these competency requirements and who signs off their work on the
    Work Order Form    .

    To be listed on the official Insulation Installers register are: 
    a) Have completed an OHS course and

    b) Either have;
        - At least 2 Years experience in installing insulation (Great )
        - A trade license such as builder, plumber or electrician (Ok ) or has
        - Completed a Government approved 2 day Installation course (Not always Ok)
        - Or supervised by an installer that meets the above criteria and signs off on all
          the work performed.
Note: Since the introduction of this rebate literally thousands of businesses have started up to capitalise
on the insulation rebate.....  some of which have quite dodgy insulation practices.

As there are no formal qualification or licensing requirements to become and Insulation Installer, apart from the
government's bare minimum competency requirements (basically just a 2 day course) - it is highly advisable
to ensure the individual or installation company that is planning to do your insulation is also;
  • Fully Insured
  • Has proven experience In Installing Insulation (beyond a 2 day course)
  • Can advise you on the best insulation for your home and climate needs
  • Is knowledgeable about Australian building standards 
  • Is knowledgeable about the insulation product standards
To make it easier for you - we have selected a number insulation installers in you area that are not only
approved by the government to install insulation but more importantly have years of experience in running
an insulation installation business.

Don't leave your most precious asset to chance just because it is free or convenient .... These installers
were in the insulation business prior to the insulation rebate and intend to be in the industry well after the
rebate has ended.  To them their reputation and ongoing business success is important!
